Percentage is counted on the total marks of all subjects. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99% will be treated as below 60%.

Descriptive Test: 30 marks in 30 minutes, covering Essay, Précis and Comprehension, typed on a computer. It is qualifying only, so these marks are not added to the final merit.

Phase I will be held in more than 200 cities across India. In West Bengal, the Prelims centres are Asansol, Burdwan, Durgapur, Hooghly, Kalyani, Kolkata and Siliguri, while Mains will be held in Kolkata and Burdwan. Your centre choice cannot be changed once submitted.

Probation and Service Bond

New officers will be on probation for 1 year, which can be extended by up to 1 more year. During probation, they must pass the Licentiate exam of the Insurance Institute of India. Selected candidates must also sign a service bond of 4 years. If they leave early, they have to pay up to one year’s gross salary. The first posting can be anywhere in India, with a minimum stay of 5 years.
