Students enrolled in a degree programme can now apply for a 3 to 4 week internship at one of India’s leading IITs during the institute’s winter vacation, from 05 December 2026 to 02 January 2027. Online registration started on 05 October 2026, and the last date to apply is 05 November 2026 (11:00 PM).

This is a good chance for students to work directly with IIT faculty, use the institute’s labs and library, and get hands-on research experience. IIT Bhubaneswar Winter Internship 2026 Eligibility

Students currently registered for a degree programme in any academic institution can apply. The internship portal also mentions students from Government-funded technical institutions and students referred by various academies who want to do an internship or use laboratory, academic or short-term training facilities at IIT Bhubaneswar.

Internship Duration and Mode

• Tenure: At least three weeks and no more than four weeks.

How to Apply for IIT Bhubaneswar Winter Internship 2026

Applications are accepted only through the online web portal. Offline applications and applications sent by email will not be considered. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official internship portal of IIT Bhubaneswar and open the “Internship Programme for Winter” section.
2. Check the sample application form (filled and unfilled versions are available) to see what details are required.
3. Click on “New Registration” and create your account with your basic details.
4. Log in with your registered credentials.
5. Fill in the application form with your personal, academic and other details.
6. Upload your photograph, signature and all required documents in the prescribed format and size.
7. Review all the details carefully and submit the application before 05 November 2026, 11:00 PM.
8. Save or print a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

Selection Process

Selection takes place in two stages:

1. Preliminary Screening: The concerned School/Department screens all applications.

• The final list of selected interns is also published on the IIT Bhubaneswar website.
• No separate communication is sent to candidates who are not selected.

Accommodation and Food

Selected interns may be given hostel accommodation, if available, on payment of the applicable fees. Students can apply for accommodation only after they are selected, and the request must go through the faculty supervisor. Interns pay for their own food and other amenities.

Fellowship / Stipend

The internship does not come with a fixed stipend. However, supervisors may offer a fellowship to interns if funds are available from their projects.

Rules During the Internship

• Interns must follow IIT Bhubaneswar’s rules and regulations during their stay.
• The School/Department may issue temporary identity cards.
• Interns can use the library, internet and other institute facilities.
• At joining, selected students must submit a hard copy of the application form, signed by them, along with the required documents, at their respective School.

Internship Completion Certificate

At the end of the internship, students must submit a report on their work. IIT Bhubaneswar will then issue a Training Completion Certificate. No grades or credits are awarded by IIT Bhubaneswar for this internship.
